Welcome Baby!

There is nothing more we love than babies and kids which made being asked to plan this gorgeous woodland theme baby shower nothing short of a dream come true. Of course, it was also one of the last parties we planned before the [first] lockdown so that could also add to why this party has a special place in our heart.

The host wanted to surprise the mom-to-be by planning a minimalistic baby brunch with close friends to celebrate the baby's upcoming arrival. Here are the key details we were working with: the event would be held at the host's house, it was going to be an intimate guest list (less than 10 people), it would be a brunch menu and it would be about 3 hours in total time. With that information in hand, we started our vision board. Check it out here on Pinterest! Our first order of planning was the overall feel of the event: simple but gorgeous. We stuck to neutrals to align with our theme with a focus on greenery to make it pop.

We found these amazing decorations on amazon that really helped bring the whole theme together.

Our table was outfitted with a grey table cloth, white tableware and accented with this burlap table runner. They came in a pack of 2 and were 13 ft long which was great for the table we were using. We added a thin eucalyptus garland to run across the table and add a pop of green. We had these gorgeous vintage-coloured flowers that we added to the garland as well. Finally, the last element of decor on the table were the jumbo leaf cutouts that we used as placemats.

We wanted to have two focus areas in the room that complemented the table. The balloon garland was a great addition to the room and it also made for a great backdrop for photos! We used a combination of items to build the garland. We bought a kit that allowed included decorating strip tape, white balloons and some confetti! To finish it off, we added in some neutral colour balloons to bring everything together.

The second area we needed to backdrop was behind the guest of honour. We were limited in what we could and couldn't have done because it was a huge window. But we finally settled on a welcome banner and other hanging decorations on twine ribbon.

This was probably our favourite thing to create! The host decided to purchase the mom-to-be a supply of diapers (best gift ever!). Rather than just plain baby wrapping paper, we decided to incorporate the gifts into a part of the decor. This ultimately was also a final gift/ surprise for the guest of honour when she was told to open the BABY boxes! We cut the letters using our Cricut Explorer and used this amazing gold foil paper from Michaels.

The final area we decorated was in the living room where the host has this great fireplace that is centred by two built-in bookcases. We used this area for our dessert bar and gift station.

Can you tell we love garlands? Because we made another one to decorate the fireplace! We used the twine and clothespins to hand our custom "Oh Baby" sign, decorations and the piece-de-resistance, a baby onesie. We cleared off the shelf on the left-hand side to have all the guests leave their presents there.

The dessert bar was on the other side of the fireplace. We ordered the most delicious Vanilla cupcakes from Atelier du Biscuit in Laval, Quebec. We added a sprig of eucalyptus to each cupcake for some embellishment. Pro Tip: We wrapped the end of the eucalyptus sprig with food-grade plastic wrap since that was the part that would be inserted into the cupcake.

We also ordered bite-sized (beyond delicious) doughnuts from Doughnats in Montreal, Quebec. We decorated them with mini versions of the "Oh Baby" sign as toppers to a few of the doughnuts.

And finally, we found these popcorn holders at the local dollar store and added a small "She's gonna pop" sign to decorate. We used Bad Monkey popcorn to fill them up!
